Book Review – What it Means to be a Man by Rhett Smith

June 10, 2013

means2bmanI received this book Thursday afternoon and was able to finish it off Monday afternoon, reading a 3-4 chapters each night over a weekend. The 15 chapters are short (4-5 pages each), direct to the topic of discussion, and have some challenging biblical information. The Study Guide that comprises the final 15 pages (one page per chapter) would be a useful guide for a man looking to lead a group of men through the study. While the book is certainly not theologically deep or philosophical, the worldview underlying is Christian. There is little sentimentality and straightforward honesty about men’s challenges.

I would recommend this book for someone looking for an easy-to-lead study with solid content that will challenge guys of any age as men, husbands & fathers. A host/leader with a decent biblical background could confidently work through this material without being an outgoing “people person” and it would be an enriching experience for all.

Note: “I received a copy of this book from the publisher for the purpose of this review.”
