Book Review – The Marriage You’ve Always Wanted by Gary Chapman

November 17, 2014

When I was offered a chance to review a book by Gary Chapman, author of the #1 NY Times Bestseller The Five Love Languages (Northfield, 1992), I jumped at the offer. In typical fashion, Chapman deals with the complicated dynamics of marriage topics/issues with biblical, understandable and easy-to-read and apply preciseness. While other marriage books are thorough tomes (eg. The Meaning of Marriage by Tim Keller), in only 135 pages Chapman addresses the topics of honouring parents, intimacy, decisions, workload, communication and others with real-to-life examples and honesty.

While not as indepth or expansive as other works, this book is highly recommended for its readability and solid content. Given that many people are not readers, this is a book that a couple could actually read together at night, taking 2-3 pages at a time (5-10 minutes).
